Today marks the beginning of my hiatus from my beloved life and work in New York City. In 5 hours I board the Crescent Line Amtrak train at Penn Station with my dear friend Kurt and will arrive in New Orleans 30 hours later with a few clothes, my bike, a sewing machine, and lots of ambition. This blog is an attempt to document our journey across America and whatever madness ensues afterwards.

Hour 25: HVAC control
This is hi-tech stuff. Above us, the conductor placed two Passenger Safety manuals on the air return grill, and there they have remained for the past 8 hours.
This is making me laugh uncontrollably. Maybe it's delerium and I just need a train break. Where were these damn manuals last night when we were blinded by that light? We are both architects. Why did we not think of this solution ourselves? surely we are not above it.
